Specialty Lenses

   Not all lenses will work for all people. There are numerous lens designs on the market today. The lens design that you wore five years ago may not be the design that would best serve you today. We have access to lens designs that are task specific (A.K.A. - a special lens for a certain job or activity). If you have a task specific vision problem, chances are we can help you.

    Polarized Lenses- Polarized lenses enable you to see clearly under conditions where there is excessive reflected horizontal light from surfaces such as wet pavement, water, sand, snow, or ice. The polarization acts as a set of tiny "mini-blinds" that literally block the glare from those surfaces. The result is clearer, more comfortable vision. The most popular colors of polarized lenses are gray and brown. The gray lenses are usually preferred by light sensitive people for sunny days; while the brown lenses are preferred for driving, variable light conditions and sports where high definition and contrast are required.      Thinnest lenses possible- We grind our lenses as thin as possible for the prescription while maintaining the utmost safety. This results in the thinnest, lightest-weight eyeglasses possible. Therefore, your glasses will be, not only the lightest eyewear possible, but also the most comfortable and attractive eyewear we can provide.

   Lightest weight frames available- We carry a wide selection of Titanium frames. This metal is the lightest, most durable metal available. It is also hypo-allergenic, so those who have problems with metal frames pitting or causing an allergic reaction in the skin don't have to worry. Finally, a metal frame you can enjoy! 
We also carry Silhouette's SPX plastic frames. This material is the lightest, most resilient plastic on the market. This is the same material that orthopedic surgeons use as a cushion for the titanium hip replacements. Tough stuff and beautiful too!

  Anti-reflective coatings- AR coatings are multi-layer vacuum coatings that eliminate the majority of reflected light. Functionally, this makes vision clearer and reduced glare and halos experienced while driving at night. Cosmetically, AR coatings make the lenses almost seem to disappear. Therefore, the glasses don't hide your eyes, they enhance them. Come in and let us show you the difference. 

    Customized bifocal designs- Many people have special needs when it comes to bifocal designs.

There are many occupations and hobbies that require a bifocal that can be used for detail work over-head. This "double segment" provides reading areas for both over-head and the traditional book distance.

Golfing glasses are also popular. We can provide several different styles of "golf bifocals" so you can keep up with your score without sacrificing your swing.

Small frames are in style now, but caused a problem with traditional no-line bifocals because there just wasn't enough room for the reading area. Now, there are several "compact" lenses on the market that are designed specifically for smaller frames. We can fit you with the lens type that best suits your needs.

   Customized tinting-  There are many task-specific tints available today. Different colors serve different functions.

    There are "blue - blocker"  and yellow tints that enhance vision for tasks such as shooting or in cases where Macular Degeneration is a factor.

    Many computer users find that a light tint helps reduce eye fatigue. The tint color can be determined by the color of the computer screen if the user works with a monochromatic font color, or can be a standard glare reducing color such as gray or smoke.

    Cosmetic tints can be used to enhance the over-all appearance of the eyewear or to create a certain "look" or impression. Some people desire a specific tint for sunglasses such as favorite color or team color. (We have made UT orange sunglasses for a die-hard VOLS fan.) Whatever your sunglass dream, we will try to make it come true.

   Low vision aids and accessories- We carry a variety of low vision aids and accessories such as magnifying readers, magnifying mirrors, eyeglass retainers, floating eyeglass snuggers, optical screwdrivers, cases, lens cloths and cleaners. We have what you need to maintain your glasses and keep them serviceable.
